When commemorating a significant event in one’s life, it is important to throw a party that is a fun fete for your guests but still completely YOU at the same time. For the Baby Marek Gender Reveal Party hosted by Liz Marek, owner of Artisan Cake Co., Something Borrowed Portland was able to furnish a variety of pieces to complete Liz’s vintage style party theme.
In her own words, she “wanted to do something super fun and the opposite of the traditional Blue or Pink gender reveal…I thought about our own story and how it has been such a long journey to get to the point that we are at now and that now, after all these years, we are patiently waiting on our special package to arrive. The ‘special delivery’ idea was born.”
Hosted at the amazing
Historic Overlook House in St. Johns, the soiree had an old-world feel. The hosts’ affinity for all things travel, vintage, airmail, letters, and hot air balloons was echoed in the decor and furnishings. The mini hot air balloons and signs were hand-crafted by
Nimbi Design, creating the perfect mix of chalkboard, travel, and vintage style for the party.
Retro suitcases, hand-lettered chalk placards, mini ladders, a lace tablecloth, antique cake stands, an antique typewriter, a mail basket, and retro globes and cameras added to the unique vintage style party ambiance. The dessert table dubbed the “cravings” table was filled with every delicious food that Liz craved throughout her pregnancy.
To do the big reveal of the baby’s gender, the Mareks chose to do it with a custom hot air balloon pinata, filled with colored wafer paper confetti. So which was it – a boy or a girl?
IT’S A GIRL! Congratulations Liz and Dan – hope your precious little girl will bring you so much joy!
