You asked and we listened! We are pleased to announce our custom chalkboard writing services! Custom chalkboard signs allow you to create a unique, hand-drawn look for all your event signage needs.  We use smudge-proof chalk to ensure your artwork arrives safely at your event with each board handcrafted from start to finish.

Something Borrowed Portland custom chalkboard signs for weddings and events

Examples of custom chalkboard signs include:

Custom chalkboards are a unique and colorful way to add originality and an artistic flare to any event such as: weddings, birthday parties, baby showers, retirement parties and more!

How it Works

Each chalkboard design is custom made by our artist to fit your unique needs and are an inexpensive alternative to printed signage. She will work with you directly so that you get exactly what you’re looking for whether it be writing, artwork or a combination of both.

To get started, simply complete our chalkboard writing request form with as many details as possible. Your request will be sent to our artist with whom you will work directly with so that your vision is brought to life.

You can have our artist do custom work on your own chalkboard, or rent one of ours. Our usual rental policies apply which you can read via our FAQ.


Our custom chalkboard writing includes design and time (chalkboards rented separately). Writing prices vary with board size:

  • Small custom chalkboards: $25 (chalkboards up to 8″ x 10″)
  • Medium custom chalkboards: $50 (chalkboards ~16″ x 20″)
  • Large custom chalkboards: $75 (chalkboards ~24″ x 36″)
  • Extra-Large custom chalkboards: $100 (chalkboards ~3′ x 4′)
