Today we’re sharing four holiday decor tips; how you can get a vintage style that conjures up fond memories.

four holiday decor tips

Our studio Christmas “tree” with suitcases and trunks is the perfect focal point to our room and a unique alternative to a traditional Christmas tree with random pieces to add color, such as clocks, lanterns and antlers.

  1. Find your focal point: The focal point of your holiday decor should be your tree, so find a space such as a corner or a prominent wall where your tree will get noticed. Make sure to pick a room that your family spends a lot of time in so you can get the most out of your decor while the holiday season lasts.
  2. Put everything on your tree: When decorating your tree, focus on putting up an eclectic array of ornaments without any rhyme or reason. The vintage look is best achieved with a hodge-podge of funky ornaments of all shapes, sizes, textures and colors.
  3. Add nostalgia: By bringing out holiday cards of years past, you can instantly add sentiment to your decor. Mix some vintage or antique cards with your personal collection and put them on display for a constant reminder of the season’s joy. You can put them on a shelf or attach the cards to twine with clothespins and hang them from your mantel or in front of a window, like garland.
  4. Create collections throughout your home: Display your ornaments in clusters such as mini collections on bookshelves, kitchen counters and side tables. This is a great way to let your tree’s decor spread throughout your home.
