Wedding favors are a great way to give thanks to guests. They’re also a great way to use your celebration to help those less fortunate. With the average couple spending between $150 and $300 on wedding favors, why not make an investment into something a little more long-lasting. Choose a charity that speaks to you as a couple, one that you’ve been involved with or one that will let you give in memory of friends or family members. Be sure to let your guests know that in lieu of wedding favors, a donation is being made to your favorite charity.

Fields of Hope

Fields of Hope offers paid, educational fellowships to domestic survivors of sex trafficking (ages 16 and up). Their products are all handmade by the girls in their Fields of Hope program in which purchases directly supports each survivor. Their wedding favor soaps come in a variety of colors and scents with a customized favor tag and also offer a variety of other items on their website.

Prosperity Candle

Prosperity Candles are scented/unscented soy/paraffin blend candles that can be personalized with the text and color of your choice. What’s special about these candles is that they are handcrafted by women in distressed nations around the world, including Haiti and Afghanistan, who earn a living wage from the candles they create. Those wages enable these women to buy food and medicines for their families, and to serve as role models for their daughters and community.

Encourage guests to support healthy love with Verizon’s HopeLine® program, which takes old wireless phones and accessories, refurbishes them, and then donates the devices (along with airtime) to victims of domestic violence.

Heifer International

Heifer International is a charity organization working to end hunger and poverty around the world by providing livestock and training to struggling communities. Make a donation on behalf of your guests and help children and families around the world receive training and animal gifts that help them become self-reliant.

As parents to your fur family, why not give a gift to protect animals? Donate to the ASPCA on behalf of each of your guests.  Or, if there is a shelter in your neighborhood (perhaps where you found your pet), you can choose to support their efforts with donations instead.

SmileTrain is an international charity with a mission of empowering local medical teams to provide free, safe surgery for poor patients with cleft lip and/or palate. They also provide training and resources to doctors in the region.
