As Something Borrowed continues to grow, we realized the need to bring in an in-house designer. As much as I have loved styling, designing was not something I have had any formal training in. Unless of course you consider the countless hours I spent re-arranging my bedroom as a pre-teen or redecorating the many apartments I lived in throughout my life. I know how things are supposed to look but I never really knew the why. Styling was something that came naturally to me but I know my weaknesses as well as my strengths and my true passion is being an entrepreneur (and shopping for fabulous new finds!). Call me crazy, but formulating processes, systems, strategic planning and new product development get me excited!
So, when I reached out to a previous client, Amber, I immediately knew after sitting down with her that she simply had to be a part of our team. Amber brings with her a very rich design background as is evident by her own wedding and Coastal Modern styled shoot. Her style and taste in design was the perfect fit to fill a void within Something Borrowed.
A Little Bit About Amber…
Amber has long been passionate about art, styling and design. She turned her childhood love for redecorating her room and making costumes into a 10+ year career as a Stylist and Designer for print, magazines and commercials. She honed her skills in New York and Los Angeles before deciding to call Portland her forever home.
She has a refined attention to detail, a resourceful and imaginative mind, and an eye for design, but she is truly inspired by helping people create spaces and looks that express their personalities and dreams. While she loves creating unique environments, she also has a background with wardrobe styling, working for clients such as Anthropologie, Teen Vogue, Domino and Harper’s Bazaar.
When she’s not busy designing the next set or wedding, Amber loves being creative in the kitchen and garden or exploring the Pacific Northwest with her husband and daughter.
What Does this Mean to You?
As we continue to evaluate and add new programs, Amber will be taking over for all of our wedding styling and design services. We will be announcing those new packages in the next few months as we fine tune the details. In addition to our newly designed styling packages, we will continue to offer day-of setup and teardown for those who may need a little extra help executing the details the day of your wedding or event. Amber’s styling won’t stop with just weddings as we’ll soon be announcing our new engagement session packages, some of which will include her stepping in to help with wardrobe selection.
Amber will also be showcasing new inventory as well as how to use pieces cohesively for your wedding or event by way of our social media outlets such as Instagram and Facebook. We’ll also be starting a new video series of topics we know you’ll enjoy as we share styling and decorating tips, an introduction to new inventory as well as a Q and A session with your questions answered.
We cannot wait to share more details, but if you simply can’t wait and need a professional designers help, don’t hesitate to reach out to us. We’re here to help you create the perfect setting for your next event or wedding!
