Although this rustic wedding was intended to take place outdoors at the Beazell Forest Education Center
, on the special day the Portland weather had other plans. The bride and groom had to move their ceremony and reception indoors to escape sudden heavy rain! Despite the impromptu change in plans, every detail of the wedding was beautifully charming, with a vintage woodsy feel and down-to-earth vibe.
The Applegates used many DIY and handmade items to enhance the decor, including handwritten love notes and apple pies on the dessert table (made by the bride!) and the groomsmen’s gifts of a camping mug and fun pair of socks (put together by the groom). Rustic wedding decorations included tree stump platters and risers, baby’s breath in mugs and jars suspended from the ceiling and tree branches, string lights above the dance floor, a beautiful ribbon backdrop to the dessert table, hand-lettered chalkboard signs, and a bucket to hold all the sparklers for the big send-off of the happy couple at the finish. The cake even sported the bride and groom’s initials created in intertwining branches on top!
